Nike releases Marty McFly “Back to the Future” shoes

Nike has sparked rumors that it may unveil the self-tying “Nike Air Mag” shoe. originally featured in the Back to the Future movies, at an event in Los Angeles Thursday night. Based on a promotional video (attached below) entitled “McFly’s Closet”, and posted by a “DocEmmettBrown88,” hype for the self-tying novelty show has ramped up. The video, of course, shows row upon row of futuristic shoes, with Back to the Future themed music playing in the background.

It seems like front-interlacing sandals have been very in this summer. I just bought an ubercomfy, cute pair on sale from Earth that I posted yesterday. It seems like even though we’re living post-gladiator sandals, we still like a complicated-looking shoe with lots of straps.

But I wouldn’t wear my Earth flat sandals out on an important date with my man. For that kind of event, I like the edgy-yet-neutral Dior Tresse, and I wish it wasn’t out of my price range.

With snakeskin inside (according to the sales rep I talked to) and a purposefully stitched leather on the outside, this is a cute shoe, and would look hot with tight skinny jeans that were slightly cropped.

Converse patent leather sneakers

Converse have used just about every concievable fabric in their iconic sneaker range, but I don't think I've ever seen patent leather used before, and that's what makes these shoes interesting. They look very much like the casual shoes Lanvin are bringing out at the moment, but cost no more than what you'd expect to spend on 'ordinary' Converse, i.e. a fraction of the price.

Shiny Converse seems to be a look that works, and I'd definitely consider this style as a casual shoe for the coming season. Its sheen gives a nod to the 'boyfriend' look, I think, as it's reminiscent of high-polished gents' shoes. Neat.

Loving the craze for houndstooth chic but don't want to pay the full whack? New Look are going in for the look with gusto and have brought out a range of shoe styles featuring the print, either in black and white as above, or black and red.

Casual shoes in smart fabrics can often work well (think David Tenant in his pinstripe converse!) so I rather like what they've done here. Ease yourself into the look with a pair of the versatile trainers for £10 at New Look.

Topshop magenta 'slash' platforms

Magenta is not a colour I tend to associate with shoes. In fact, like cyan it's one of those shades you only really expect to see in its purest form on a computer screen, but Topshop have gone all sci-fi with their choice of the colour for their daring 'Slash' gladiator platforms.

You'll certainly attract attention in these cosmic purple platforms, which do look a lot better on the feet, hence my inclusion of thier model photo above. Great choice for transition-wear too, as you could get away with wearing them tights-free on balmy summer evenings before revamping them for a more glamorous look come Autumn. £70 at Topshop.

High street vs Designer: Topshop Vs Celine

Topshop again, but the similarities between these 'Strictly' Multi Buckle Shoes and Celine's Panton shoe boots were too much to ignore. Topshop really is the high street leader for amazing designer copies - nowhere else does it better do they?

Both black, both open toed, both strappy (with the same amount of straps no less) they're almost a dead ringer for each other! Except the Celine ones are patent leather with a cut out back, and cost a not too bad £484 (ok maybe I've been looking at designer shoes too long if I think that's 'not too bad'), and the Topshop ones are suede, with buckles instead of poppers and cost an even better £65. The Topshop version also come in Magenta if that sways your vote. Which do you prefer?

Mock snakeskin heel court shoes from Dorothy Perkins

Snakeskin heels are strangely classic, in that they go with most things and they don't really go right out of fashion. They're always lurking in the background, waiting for their time. They can be dressed up, and dressed down, worn to work or to a party. Basically they're adaptable.

These white Dorothy Perkin courts aren't real snakeskin obviously, they're snakeskin printed leather. Because of that lovely fact, they cost a mere £50! Not bad for a fashion investment, right?

Converse by John Varvatos to discontinue womenswear line

After just three years, Converse by John Varvatos is shutting down its womenswear line, as of the 24th April.

The decision, however, will not affect its mens line. The brand said in a statement: "We have a strong relationship with John and are planning to continue both the Converse by John Varvatos footwear and men's apparel lines as part of our on-going commitment to the growth of Converse."

Kurt Geiger 'Marais' Fashionistas

I'm becoming slightly obsessed with Kurt Geiger's Fashionistas range. It's a bit like the time Magnum started making the Seven Deadly Sins version of their ice cream and I had to try them all. Anyway.

These ones are inspired by Paris, and unlike my opinion on the Bermondsey shoes, I love these. Really love them.

Elegant but show stopping, they're made from nubuck, with a highly polished wooden heel. The purple and grey compliment each other beautifully, and the Swarovski crystal studded ankle straps balance out the chunky platform. If you've fallen in love like me, they're £250 from Kurt Geiger.

Nine West glitter platform peep toes

I'm not really a casual pumps kinda girl but I'd be happy to make an exception for these pink love heart stamped shoes from Topshop. In fact, if these had been around while I was at school, I probably wouldn't have forged so many notes to get out of PE. Probably.

Comfortable looking yet pretty, these would be great for summer days out where lots of walking is involved or. If the hearts and the pink are too much for you, the Tempo-Heart Print Lace-Up Pumps are also available in charcoal and white.

Overall these Adidas ZOE Mule-Leather shoes are very comfortable with the memory foam like footbed. They are super good looking and run true to size except I’d say a tad narrow in the toe are. They run about a half size smaller than you might expect for Adidas, and they are quite narrow.

Along with navy, coral is turning out to be one of the big colours of this Spring, and it looks like those pom poms we kept seeing at Christmas are sticking around too. Just when I find myself ogling Chloe Sevigny's next season Opening Ceremony multi-strap wedge heels and lusting after a pair of my own strappy beauties, Nine West come to the rescue with this platform gladiator which are available... without the wait.

While obviously not quite as detailed as the Opening Ceremony ones (those buckles are pretty amazing), they give you the super strappy gladiator look for what I would presume would be a far more recession-friendly price (£74 in case you were wondering).

Uh-oh. It's a platform sneaker, folks. The addition of platform soles to sneakers is something I can never quite accept, although, having said that, these are some of the least offensive examples of the genre I've seen. It may have something to do with that sunny yellow colour, or the fact that I do appreciate the thought of adding heels to casual shoes, even although I don't often appreciate the end result. I definitely wouldn't pay $265 for them, either. If you would, they're See by Chloe, and you can get them at Saks.

Liberty collaborates with Nike on trainers

British heritage brand, Liberty of London, has teamed up with Nike by reworking its pretty prints into the iconic Blazer trainer.

Fabric prints including Liberty's Phoebe, Nina, Venus Leaf and Strawberry Thief have been recreated to update Nike's Blazer style, first released 1973. They will be available from Liberty on Dover Street Market, and Nike's pop-up store from February 14th.

This has to be the worst shoe combination, who ever thought up combining the high top shoe with moccasin detail should be given snaps for giving the peep-toe boot a run for their money. Usually known for cool but quirky clothes and accessories, these See by Chloe fold down sneakers are letting the brand down. Or trying to take it to new levels. As I look at these sneakers more, it is amusing that their designer thought it interesting to give the high-top the same toe detail as moccasins, but nonetheless, why?

Kayne West unveils trainer range for Louis Vuitton by wearing them

Kanye West has revealed his brand new trainers for Louis Vuitton by being the first person to wear them. While leaving a LV boutique, the music megastar showed off his design to paparazzi who caught it all on video.

Kanye first announced his collaboration with the luxury label back in July when he attended the Louis Vuitton show in Paris. His collection for Louis Vuitton, which so far includes some fairly basic white high-tops, is slated for June 2009.

Aspen is always a great place to spot more than a few fashion faux pas, and with Mariah Carey in town you're almost guaranteed a doosie. Here is the newly married Mimi strutting her stuff in a black and red ensemble, highlighted by a pair of enormous red Dior furry snow boots. Now while I'm all for practicality, especially in the snow fields, I can't help but wonder why she would choose a pair of boots that almost consume her legs. These sandals are from Chloe's resort 2009 collection, so if you're thinking they look a little too summery for the current season, well, you're right. They're currently available to pre-order at Nordstrom, where they're $598, and I love the asymmetric strap and gold D-rings. I also love the tan colour, which I think is perfect for warmer weather, although the cream colour which is also available is nice too. These will look perfect with crisp linens and bright colours - it's just a shame that those of us with no need of a "resort" collection will have to wait until next summer to be able to wear them!

I've been keeping an eye on Simple shoe's Eco Sneaks range ever since it appeared in the states a few years back, and am delighted to see that the sustainable sneakers are now available here in the UK. Now, I'm just hoping that santa will grant me a wish and send me these festive-looking, tartan-lined trainers in 'blood Mary', which also happens to sound very like my favourite Christmas morning drink! As well as loving the relaxed and chunky style, I'd love the feeling of wearing something with such a long and varied life cycle on my feet: the soles on these are from old car tyres. £58.72 from Simple Shoes.

This is one of my favourite shades of red for shoes: it's kind of an oxblood, and it's the kind of colour that even those who shy away from bright, "Dorothy" reds might be persuaded to try. It also makes a really nice alternative to brown or black because it works with most other colours.

But enough about the colour. I like the shoes themselves because they have a strangely "snug" look about them thanks to the little side zip, but the shape is still narrow and elegant enough to allow you to wear them for things like work, or other occasions where a pair of dress trousers or formal-style of skirt/dress is required.

Looks like the Shoewawa staff have gone a little Marc Jacobs crazy today! I mentioned these shoes in passing last week, when I was showing you the closed-toe versions, but since then I've seen them on a few different websites, and I thought they deserved a post all of they're own. Even although I've never really bought into the whole "star" craze that's gone on this year, I have to admit that these are stunning shoes, and the little diamante star is the perfect finishing touch to them. The uppers are described as "pearl", and are a lovely, soft metallic shade. I think they'd be better without the metal on the heel, but I'd live with that too if I had to. If you like a bit of colour on your feet but don't want to get all Balenciaga about it, these pumps by Miu Miu will provide the cheerfulness you're after while the muted green suede ensured the overall look of the shoes stay subtly stylish. Rag & Bone to branch out into footwear

Rag & Bone have joined the many designers taking the step forward to expand their repertoire by adding a footwear line.

The New York label will unveil three styles this spring - a tailored loafer, a slipper-like oxford, and brogue detailed ballet flats. Prices aren't exactly cheap, ranging from $330 to US$515, but they insist that they are good value.

"We focused on classic silhouettes and used all-natural materials and custom lasts and made sure all the shoes are flexible and breathable," said Tull Price, who is collaborating on the line.

Prada anthracite metallic leather ruffled detail ankle boots

I haven't loved everything Prada have done recently, but I do love these boots, and I think they make up for some of the stranger designs we've been seeing from the brand in the past year or so. The basic shape is one you really can't go wrong with - well, everyone can use a pair of black stiletto ankle boots, can't they? - but the ruffle detail adds a really nice little touch. It's pretty and unusual, but it's not too over-the-top, so you'll still be able to wear these everywhere you'd wear a plain pair of boots, but with the knowledge that they're far prettier!

The History of Lacoste Shoes

Lacoste shoes are every bit as stylish as the rest of the fresh, sporty looks and fabulous perfumes they're famous for. And, they are becoming just as sought-after.

The Lacoste brand has close connections with tennis. It was company founder, René Lacoste, who won the Davis Cup for France for the first time in 1927. His name is still as well known in the world of tennis as it is in the world of fashion.

Rene, who was born in France in 1904, was nicknamed "the alligator" by the press. He made a bet with the Captain of the French Davis Cup Team over an alligator suitcase. The nickname stuck and was quickly turned into an alligator logo, which Lacoste had embroidered onto his blazer.

That logo is still around today. It can be found embroidered on items from the Lacoste clothing range as well as on selected pairs of Lacoste shoes. It is believed that Rene Lacoste's embroidered blazer was the first instance of a logo being worn on the exterior of an item of clothing. Until then, logos had only ever been sewn on labels, where they couldn't be seen. Vans Custom

Vans first came “off the wall” in March of 1966. The first Vans shoes didn’t even have names - they had numbers! The Vans number 44 was their first authentic deck shoe. Vans were the pioneers in the mass production of custom shoes. This is the reason I thought they should be the first review! It all started when one of their customers came into their factory, office and store and said “that’s a nice pink, but I really want a brighter pink.” All it took was that comment from a customer and custom vans were born!

Nike Dunk High Premium - Womens

Nike seems to be getting more and more comfortable creating shoes tailored specifically for the ladies. Another Dunk High is added to the women’s size only list, this time being featured in a feminine, pink, red and black colorway. The shoe’s sole and lining is black, complimenting the black leather swoosh on the upper, which is surrounded by pink and red. The side panels and the upper ankle are made up of wool material similar to the men’s Dunk Highs from the Spark pack. Look for these starting November 29th, 2008 at select Nike retailers.
